    Under the direction of Director of Coaching and World Cup winner Marco Materazzi, SMI created its own soccer methodology. We are able to offer the best soccer experience in Italy because of our numerous affiliations with top clubs and leagues, including the Italian Serie A. Our team is made up of UEFA coaches with years of expertise at the top level who speak several languages. Additionally, SMI invites sports students from all over the world to study at a university situated in the center of Rome. With the help of one of our own Academic Directors and Serie A Coach, Antonio Cincotta, we work to transfer our knowledge from the classroom to the playing field.

    Our Curriculum

    The purpose of the course is to demonstrate nutrient requirements for a variety of physical activities including endurance, strength, speed and monitoring of training load. Moreover, it will also include notions about prevention of athletic injuries, with emphasis on qualities of a good athletic trainer, avoiding injuries , recognizing signs and symptoms of specific sports injuries and conditions, immediate and long-term care of injuries, and administration procedures in athletic training and recovery strategies. 

    Module 1

    1. What is training – Trainability, adaptations and athlete lifestyle 

    2. Youth Training – Relative age effect, peak hight velocity, goals and methodology [Practical examples with video]

    3. Athlete Evaluation – Body composition, endurance tests, individual training, strength and agility tests [Practical examples with video]

     

    Module 2 

    1. Monitoring Training Loads – Internal and external training load, use GPS device

    2. Injury Prevention – Injury risk factors, injury prevention protocols [Practical examples with video]

    3. Recovery strategies – nutrition, cold bath, foam roller exercises, mobility [Practical examples with video]

     

    Module 3

    1. Endurance – Small sided games and training off the ball [Practical examples with video]

    2. Strength – Training exercises on the field and the gym [Practical examples with video]

    3. Agility – Determinants and exercise [Practical examples with video]
